Biography:

Susan Reese received her M.F.A. in Poetry from Pacific University in 2006. She received her M.A. in English from PSU in 1993, and her B.S. in English from Lewis and Clark College in 1974. Susan regularly attends and participates in the American Conference of Irish Studies, and traveled in 2004 to a conference on Poetry and Medicine at Duke University where she read some of her own work. The latter increased her interest in the power of healing contained within the written word, informing her development of the course Writing to Heal.

Susan is a wife, mother of a 20 year old daughter, has 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 parrot, 6 llamas; she quilts, loves dragon boating with Wasabi, has recently returned to playing the saxophone, has joined a choir, regularly attends Portland Arts and Lectures events and Oregon Symphony concerts, and believes wholeheartedly that life is a gift, it is finite, and there's really a lot of very cool stuff to experience.

On the PSU faculty since 1991.
