Enroll as a Post-Bac Student

If you have already earned a bachelor's degree and want to earn a post-baccalaureate certificate or you want to take classes in preparation for a graduate program, you can be admitted to Portland State as a post-baccalaureate student.

Post-baccalaureate students can apply up to 16 credits to a graduate degree program at Portland State (these credits must satisfy existing program requirements, and the ability to apply these credits is conditional upon admission to the intended graduate program). Students who have been away from academia, students who want to try out advanced study in the field of their interest, and those looking to gain current work samples may benefit from post-baccalaureate study.

To apply, complete the University's post-baccalaureate admission process. After you are admitted as a post-bac student, you will need to search for a class and contact the faculty members directly for permission to enter the course and turn in a Special Registration form. If you would like guidance on what classes to sign up for, contact the Director for your program of interest. Faculty emails are found on the class search page or on the English faculty page.
