Biography:

I grew up in Alaska, then Mississippi, and have always been in love with storytelling. I earned a BFA in graphic design & illustration and a MA in writing & publishing, all with the specific aim of making books for kids - it just took a while to get here. I worked as a graphic designer for almost 15 years and have been a professional illustrator and author since 2015. Today, I spend my days working in youth publishing through my company, Believe In Wonder, which I co-own with my wife, Josie. I enjoy teaching about the creative process and working on stories that promote diversity and inclusion in youth fiction, and I’m always happiest when I can share the light of wonder and imagination with my art.
