Teresa Nguyen, Electrical and Computer Engineering post-bacc student, was named 2022 Brooke Owens Fellow. They will be pursuing the bridge program to a Master’s degree.

The Class of 2022 is the sixth class of “Brookie” Fellows. This year, more than 1000 undergraduates applied. Fifty-one Fellows were selected through a competitive application process involving written and creative submissions, interviews with the Fellowship’s volunteer-based leadership team and its close network, and interviews with Host Companies. The selected Fellows have demonstrated their desire to pursue a career in aerospace, a record of leadership, a commitment to their communities, and their inexhaustible creativity.

Teresa is a member of We In Space and Portland State Aerospace Society (PSAS). They are a TIG welder for PSAS Launch Vehicle 4 (LV4) propellant test tanks, and an in-depth researcher on interdisciplinary aerospace practices within the PSAS ecosystem. In addition, Teresa is technical writer for PSAS. They are currently working on two research grants through the Oregon NASA Space Grant Consortium. This has allowed them to focus on all things aerospace.

Teresa starts their Fellowship with Draper Laboratory in Massachusetts this summer. This will get them closer to working on space robots and they hope to one day become an astronaut and work with the European Space Agency.
