IMPORTANT: If you have received an email from "lost_found_admin@pdx.edu", this did not come from Campus Public Safety.

The Campus Public Safety Office (CPSO) is a resource for persons that have misplaced valuable and crucial items on the Portland State University Campus. Valuable items are defined as items having a value of over $50. Crucial items are defined as items with personal information (i.e. prescriptions, wallets, purses, keys, cell phones, etc.)  that will require CPSO to attempt to notify the owner of lost property.

Storage Policy: Items that are considered either crucial or valuable will be held for 30 days. After 30 days these items will be taken to PSU Surplus Property for final disposition. Items that are brought into CPSO that are not considered crucial or valuable will be held informally for 24 hours. After such time, these items are given to Surplus Property.

Information for Buildings: Locations where items are frequently left, including the Student Recreation Center, the Stott Center, and the Library, among others, may decide to retain property pursuant to their individual practices and uses. This could include lost and found procedures designed for their unique uses, experiences and customer expectations. CPSO employees will make every effort to assist persons who have lost or mislaid property by courteously providing directions and guidance. These efforts could include directing them to the building and location in which the property was lost.

Frequent Questions Asked About Lost & Found:

Where do I go to find my lost flash drive?

We do not accept nor tracked Data Storage Devices, such as flash drives, external hard drive, floppy or zip disk, memory card (of any type: CF, SD, SDXC, etc.)

All flash drives that are found on campus go directly to the Office of Information Technology. OIT labs provide a basic lost and found service specifically for data storage devices. They will make a best-effort to identify the owner of the device and contact them via their PSU email to retrieve the device. Any data storage device not retrieved within 2 weeks will be securely erased and disposed of.

Where do I go to find lost clothing, mugs, water bottle, notebook, and text book items?

Campus Public Safety does not hold items that are below $50.00 of value. Locations where items are frequently left, including the Student Recreation Center, the Stott Center, and the Library, among others, may decide to retain property pursuant to their individual practices and uses. This could include lost and found procedures designed for their unique uses, experiences and customer expectations. If you know where you left your lost item, retrace your steps and ask any offices or departments that are within that vicinity if your item was turned in there.
