Requirements
Here’s what you need to do to begin the Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Art History (PBCAH):
- Have earned a baccalaureate degree recognized by the PSU Office of Admissions and Records.
- Be formally admitted to PSU as a postbaccalaureate undergraduate.
- After being admitted to PSU email Anne McClanan (anne.mcclanan@pdx.edu), the PBCAH Coordinator, to request that your transcripts be evaluated for courses that can be used towards this certificate. Please include your name, PSU ID number, and that you are interested in doing the PBCAH.
Please note that you are required to complete a year-long lower-division art history survey as a pre-requisite to your 300- and 400-level coursework. This basic preparation does not count toward the 24 credits required for the PBCAH. The survey courses must be completed with a grade of “C-“ or better; P/NP grades are not accepted.
If you are taking the survey through PSU, you would take ARH 204, 205, and 206. If you have taken all or part of the survey before, just refer to step 3 in terms of getting your prior coursework evaluated for entry to the program.
WR 323, Writing as Critical Inquiry, is required for any PBCAH student whose first degree is from an institution where English is not the primary language of instruction.
