As the Senior Student Organization Advisor, Janette advises student leaders in a wide variety of student organizations. She guides students on leadership development, event planning, and in identifying transferable skills into areas beyond SALP and PSU. Janette has worked at PSU since January 2019.
Prior to joining PSU, Janette worked at a former language institute at the University of Portland, Portland Community College and Clark College. These positions in higher education, both within Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, included rich opportunities supporting and empowering students and working to advance systemic change for the student experience. Prior to working in higher education, she taught English as a Second Language (ESL) in the USA and Japan, and worked, traveled and interned in Europe. Janette sees value in bringing diverse people together to build strong meaningful communities. Through her professional work and personal life, she strives to listen, learn, and engage in opportunities to unite people near and far.
Outside of work, Janette likes being outside (especially dining al fresco!) and traveling abroad (Iceland is her favorite country!) and regionally whenever possible. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her adorable and spoiled cats.
