More detailed information on the services we offer is below.

Seed collection and processing

We have expert seed scientists that collect seed in the wild and process them in our laboratory. We have a seed aspirator, seed sieves, microscopes, and other tools to ensure high seed purity.

Short and long-term storage

We have storage capacity in a walk-in professional seed drying room that is maintained at 25 % relative humidity and 5° C where seeds are dried and stored for short periods of time. We also have chest freezers set at 0° C where seeds are stored indefinitely.

Germination and viability testing

We have experts that run tests to describe seed germination requirements and dormancy breaking protocols. We have four temperature and light controlled germination chambers that can be set to standard germination temperatures or to temperatures that mimic seasonal temperature patterns. We also perform tetrazolium viability tests for certain species.

Seed and cutting propagation protocols

We can formulate propagation protocols for growers and restoration practitioners. We can propagate plants from seeds, cuttings, and divisions. We have access to a state-of-the-art research greenhouse with an automated mist system and an outdoor nursery.

Plug and container production protocols

We can formulate production protocols for growers and restoration practitioners. We can produce installation ready plugs (seedlings grown in liners) or plants grown in 4-inch to 1-gallon containers. We have access to a state-of-the-art research greenhouse and outdoor nursery capabilities.

Additional services

We also offer plant surveys, rare plant population monitoring, and management and restoration consultations.
