Gilbert and Laurie Meigs Conservation Education Scholarship/Internship
A paid position for an undergraduate student, Spring Quarter 2022

The Rae Selling Berry Seed Bank & Plant Conservation Program is looking for an undergraduate student to assist with processing of seed samples and other tasks associated with running our nationally recognized seed banking program. All students interested in botany and conservation are invited to apply, with preference given to ESM students.

The Seed Bank, which originally focused exclusively on rare and endangered native plants of the Pacific Northwest, has been expanding to include common taxa as well. We have a large amount of collection and other data on over 24,350 seed accessions of more than 570 taxa native to Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

Ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in conservation in general, and plant conservation in particular. They should be methodical, detail oriented, and interested in the big picture. Basic familiarity with MS Excel is a plus. Candidate must be enrolled in at least six credits while employed with the Seed Bank.

Internships involve 10 hours per week, $14.00 per hour, for the Spring Quarter. Opportunities to extend work beyond the Spring Quarter is possible, but not guaranteed, pending funding availability and adequate work performance.
