DR. JESSICA I. RAMIREZ
Jessica (she/her) is a Chicana mother, educator, activist, and first-generation college student from Oxnard, California. She is an Assistant Professor in Social Work and the Chicanx and Latinx Studies Department at Portland State University. Her scholarship emphasizes the importance of healing, challenging systems of oppression, and identifying spaces of refuge, especially in relation to racial trauma. Jessica is also a community-based doula and takes pride in supporting families as they navigate the healthcare system while welcoming new life into the world.
