DR. ANGELA OZBURN

Dr. Angela Ozburn earned a dual B.S. in Biochemistry and Neurobiology, and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Ozburn’s research on molecular mechanisms that underlie addiction focuses on using innovative approaches in bioinformatics to identify gene networks and brain circuits that underlie alcohol and drug abuse. Data from these studies are leveraged to identify and test novel compounds for the treatment of addiction. As a first-generation college student, she found support in structured mentoring and research experiences that were pivotal for advancement in her academic research career. She is dedicated to training underrepresented individuals to become the next generation of scientists and physicians.
