Funding for Conference Travel
Attending an academic conference is an exciting way to learn more about your discipline, network with professionals, learn about graduate school, and share your own research. Here are some resources to help you find the funding to attend.
The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is a national non-profit organization that supports and promotes undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields. CUR has divisions organized by academic disciplines. Each division has their own awards for conference travel. Check out which awards might apply to you.
Have you asked members of your research group? Sometimes your PI, research mentor or supervisor knows of funding sources.
Have your inquired about conference travel funds in your academic department? Ask your major professors about conference travel funding. Your academic department may have travel awards. Also the professional organizations your professors are involved with may offer travel awards.
Does the conference offer travel awards or student fee waivers? Often the price to attend a conference as a student is very discounted. Check out the conference website to see if there are specific student awards for travel and reduced registration fees.
Have you applied for the Honors College Award for Research Travel? Applications can be found on the Honors Scholarship website.
