Dr. David Ritchie applies conceptual metaphor theory to understand the pattern of metaphor use in both formal discourse (e.g. speeches and editorials) and informal discourse (conversations). He has published analyses of speeches by Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Tony Blair, and of an open meeting about police-community relations following the Kendra James shooting.
