Saturday, June 15, 2024 | 1pm | SMSU Ballroom (355)

The PSU English Department is pleased to announce the 2024 Capping Ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 1pm in the Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom (SMSU 355).

English Department faculty will gather with graduating English and Writing students, both undergraduate and graduate, and their families and friends to celebrate the achievements of this year's graduates. The ceremony will feature readings from students and faculty and a traditional graduation procession. Many graduates at past ceremonies have chosen to wear cap and gown or other formal attire, though it is not required to do so. Students who have graduated or will graduate between Fall 2023 and Fall 2024 are welcome to participate and are encouraged to invite as many guests as they would like. A catered reception will follow the ceremony in the Vanport Room (SMSU 338).

If you plan to attend the 2024 Capping Ceremony, please RSVP to let us know by Sunday, May 19: 2024 English Department Capping Ceremony RSVP Form.

Please note that the English Department Capping Ceremony is intended to be an intimate ceremony separate from the official PSU Commencement Ceremony, which will take place the following day for all College of Liberal Arts and Sciences graduates. Students are welcome to participate in both ceremonies, one or the other, or neither, as they so choose.

Please contact the English Department at grdstudy@pdx.edu with any questions.
