Minji Cho, research assistant at the Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative, presented the paper entitled Avoiding the Risk of Trial, but Taking on the Risk of Agreement: Eviction Cases in Portland, Oregon on Oct. 25 at the 2025 American Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) Annual Conference in Minneapolis.

Simon Byeonguk Han, mathematics education graduate student, co-authored Data Reasoning About Ourselves and Others published in Mathematics Teacher: Learning and Teaching PK-12

Desiree’ J. DuBoise, graduate research assistant, presented a poster on the ‘Pathways to Homeless’ research project titled Examining Pathways Through Homelessness: The Role of Social Support which received the Outstanding Student Poster Presentation award at the 2025 Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) Conference on Oct. 14 in Hillsboro.

Desiree’ J. DuBoise, graduate research assistant, co-presented a session titled 'Emerging insights from the Pathways study: An interactive session' at the Homeless Services Dept (HSD) Fall 2025 Providers Conference on Oct. 22 at PSU.

Christian Heisler, earth, environment and society doctoral student, co-authored Power and Planning: A Critical Discourse Analysis of Tribal and Non-Tribal Oregon Wildfire Protection Plan published in Fire Ecology on Nov. 6.

Eileen Lu, research intern at the Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative (HRAC), presented a poster on the ‘Pathways to Homeless’ research project titled Ensuring BIPOC Representation in Homelessness Research in the ‘Pathways to Housing’ Project at the 2025 Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) Conference on Oct. 14 in Hillsboro.

Shelby Morgan, University Honors College and cultural history of the arts undergrad student, was awarded a Pioneer Award worth $1,000 from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi — the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Bryttani Nieves, data science graduate student, co-authored Data-Driven Optimization and Parameter Estimation for a Metric Graph Epidemic Model with Applications to COVID-19 Spread in Poland: A Real-World Example of Optimization for a Challenging Rosenbrock-type Objective Function published in An International Journal of Optimization and Control: Theories & Applications (IJOCTA).

Hyeyoung Woo, sociology faculty, and Robert Northman, sociology graduate student, attended the Alpha Kappa Delta International Honor Society of Sociology Distinguished Lecture and Awards Presentation at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association to accept PSU’s Department of Sociology Chapter of the Year Award.
