  1. Elizabeth Almer, Business faculty, was cited in the Jul. 11 Bloomberg Tax article “BDO Offers New Playbook as Firms Reconsider Partnership Model.”
  2. Deborah Arthur, University Studies, earned the “CEA Advocate Award for 2023” from the Correctional Education Association.
  3. Sarah Dougher and Sonja Taylor, University Studies faculty, were highlighted in the Multnomah Educational Service District's September Newsletter in September.
  4. Theresa Robbins Dudeck, Theater faculty, was co-invited to speak on “Legacies: Keith Johnstone, The Global Improvisation Initiative, Where We Come From and What Comes Next?” Jul. 29  at the Applied Improvisation Network conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. 
  5. Berrin Erdogan, Business faculty, was a panelist in “Research Impact: What It Is, Why It Matters, and How You Can Increase Your Impact Potential,” Aug. 4-8 at the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Boston.
  6. Berrin Erdogan, Business faculty, was interviewed for an Aug. 18 KGW news story titled “Worker Unrest is Driving Strikes and Unionization Efforts Across Portland This Summer.”
  7. Todd Ferry, Architecture, was featured in the Aug. 15 Bloomberg article “Can Tiny House Villages Be a Homelessness Fix?”
  8. Shirley A. Jackson, Sociology faculty, was an organizer and presider of the panel “The Relevance of W. E. B. Du Bois to the Racial Problematics of Modern Times: A Symposium on The Oxford Handbook of W.E.B. Du Bois,” Aug. 18 at the Annual Meeting of the Society for the Study of Social Problems in Philadelphia.
  9. Shirley A. Jackson, Sociology faculty, participated in July in the Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Leadership Institute, in Denver.
  10. Kimberly Kahn, Psychology faculty, was interviewed by Eye on Psi Chi magazine for a Summer 2023 article titled “Counteracting Implicit Bias in the Policing System.” 
  11. Bob Liebman, Sociology faculty emeritus, consulted with the CurePDX research team on studying social movement trend data.

  13. Jennifer Ruth, Film faculty, published an Aug. 14 opinion column titled “Authoritarians Come for the Academy: Right Wingers Like Dan Patrick and Christopher Rufo Seek to Erode Academic Power” in The Chronicle of Higher Education.

  17. Hyeyoung Woo, Sociology faculty, served as session organizer and presider for “Experiences of Transnational Asian Immigrants” Aug. 17-21 at the Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association in Philadelphia.
