Scott Burns, professor emeritus of Engineering Geology, received the International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environment's highest honor, "Honorary President," awarded only once every few years. The award is in recognition of more than 30 years of active involvement with IAEG, and will be conferred at the annual meeting in Namibia next year.
Rosol Mikail, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health, received the American Public Health Association, Injury Control and Emergency Health Services Section’s Best Student Paper Award for her practicum/integrative project work on Oregon’s Extreme Risk Protection Order. The title of Rosol’s paper and corresponding presentation were “The Use of Extreme Risk Protection Orders Intended to Prevent Mass Violence in Oregon: A Descriptive Study.” The award, now in its 33rd year, comes with a plaque, monetary prize, and fast-track publication in the journal Injury Epidemiology.
