Cynthia Carmina Gomez, government and community relations, has been appointed to the Metro Future Vision Commission (FVC), responsible for developing a long-range strategic plan for the region and the commission's charge is to assess future trends and formulate an equitable and resilient vision to guide regional growth, policy decisions and major infrastructure investments.
Max Nielsen-Pincus, environmental science and management faculty, Doug Deur, anthropology faculty and Gabe Sheoships, Institute for Tribal Government faculty, co-authored Power and Planning: A Critical Discourse Analysis of Tribal and Non-Tribal Oregon Wildfire Protection Plan published in Fire Ecology on Nov. 6.
Jenn Reed, public health faculty, won the Injury Control & Emergency Health Services Section 2025 Student Poster Presentation Competition at the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association.
Gabe Urza, English and creative writing faculty, was named a recipient of the 2025 Spark Award.
