Activities

The REU program aims to offer undergraduate students with research opportunities that can develop their problem-solving skills and basic research experience and allow the participants to gain knowledge and confidence to pursue graduate study and careers in science and engineering fields. All the research activities scheduled in this program are structured to achieve the goals stated above. Comprehensive preparation activities such as research etiquette, writing technical papers and reports, lab safety, future career development guidance, in addition to microscope training and other seminars and short courses on topics relevant to the research are also included in the virtual program. Regarding the research projects, each participant will be matched with a faculty advisor who will provide a research project and will guide the participant throughout the project completion. This supervision can be achieved either remotely or in person depending on the home institution of the participant and his/her faculty advisor.
