As support for students during this challenging time, Portland State University offers COVID-19 Resources for Students.

Additional general student resources can be found on this page

Academic Advising

The Judaic Studies major is part of the Language, Culture, and Meaning Pathway. Students may take advantage of academic advising offered by the excellent advisors of this pathway. Martha, Leo, and Sam are dedicated to student success and to helping students understand and realize their professional and personal goals. Students are assigned to an advisor based on the last 2 digits of their PSU ID number, but students may change advisors if they wish. Advisors can help students with course scheduling, declaring a major, thinking about graduate education, and exploring career paths.

For general advising questions, email lcmadvising@pdx.edu.  To make an appointment with an advisor, visit the advising webpage.

Directions to our offices

The Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies at Portland State University is located on the fourth floor of the University Center Building (UCB) in Suite 465. UCB fills the block between SW 5th Ave and SW 6th Ave, and SW Harrison Street and SW Hall Street.

You will want to enter the building through the glass doors on SW Harrison. The doors are marked "University Center Building." Take the elevator to the fourth floor, head right as you exit the elevator and follow the first hallway on your left to the Judaic Studies office.

Note: The entrance on Harrison St. is wheelchair accessible.

Public Transit

Judaic Studies is highly accessible via public transit. Trimet has a number of stops nearby. The following public transit options are located within a block of our building:

    MAX Yellow Line
    MAX Green Line
    Streetcar
    Bus Stops

We highly recommend using public transit.

Parking Information

The PSU Office of Transportation & Parking Services provides detailed information about hourly and visitor parking available on campus. Due to our downtown location, parking can be a challenge. Be sure to plan ahead, leave plenty of time to get here, and use public transit if possible.

If you plan to use PSU parking options, we recommend University Center Parking Garage, or Parking Structure 1.

Hourly, metered street parking can be found near the University Center Building. Most of the meters near UCB are 3 hours. A map of meter locations and lengths is available through the Portland Bureau of Transportation. They also provide information as to current rates.

There are also a number of locations for bicycle parking.

There are accessible parking spaces located in all PSU operated parking lots and structures. Map of accessible parking spaces is available through the PSU Transportation page, as well as additional information about accessible parking.
