Judging Criteria

In January, applications will be reviewed by the Cleantech Challenge advisory committee for eligibility and quality. Up to 10 teams will be selected to participate in the Semi-Final Pitching Round.


JUDGES AT THE SEMI-FINAL PITCHING ROUND WILL EVALUATE TEAMS BASED ON THEIR APPLICATIONS AND THREE-MINUTE PITCHES ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

Pitch:
Ability to describe the problem, the solution, and why it matters.

Impact: 
Could this team/solution have a substantial impact on the market? In the environment? In people’s lives?

Potential:
Is the proposed project realistic? Can the team accomplish its stated prototyping goals with $1,000 in 10 weeks?

IN THE FINAL ROUND IN THE SPRING, FINALIST TEAMS WILL BE EVALUATED ON THEIR FIVE-MINUTE PITCHES AND PROTOTYPE DEMONSTRATIONS ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Pitch: Ability to describe the problem, the solution, and the market opportunity. Team enthusiasm and motivation.
  • Impact: Could this team/solution have a substantial impact on the market? In the environment? In people’s lives?
  • Prototype: Quality and completeness of prototype. Ability to explain and demonstrate the technology and market opportunity.
  • Progress: How much progress did the team make over the winter term? Did they meet their goals? Have they identified the next steps? Are their stated goals achievable?
