Preview Day for Freshmen - Saturday Nov. 14, 2009

Preview Day for Freshmen provides high school students who are exploring their higher education options an opportunity to find out what Portland State University has to offer. This event for prospective freshmen and their families is our only weekend visit program. Take the day to immerse yourself in our academic curriculum, explore our diverse urban campus, and discover the many connections we foster with the greater metropolitan community.

Thank to all who participated and volunteered for the 2009 Preview Day Program. It turned out to be a successful event. We are currently in the planning stages for our 2010 events; stay tuned for further dates and information

We hope that you will consider participating in one of our upcoming Viking Visitation events, the first of which will be held on February 15. Sign up for these events will begin in early December. You may also consider checking out one of our daily Campus Visit tours/informational sessions.

Program Overview: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Here are some of the things you will be able to participate in:

REGISTRATION
Enjoy breakfast refreshments after checking-in for the program and receiving your name tags, program agenda, and registration materials.

OPENING SESSION
Hear about our academic curriculum, explore our diverse urban campus, and discover the many connections that Portland State fosters within the greater metropolitan community.

CAMPUS TOUR
Take a campus tour, led by a current PSU student.

ACADEMIC SESSIONS
Here's your chance to explore academic area of interest, talk to faculty members, and learn more about our department majors and programs. We will also have a session for those who are undecided.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS
Discover ways to make college affordable with financial aid and scholarships. Learn more about living on-campus! Find out more about our Career Center's jobs database which will assist you during school and after you graduate! Learn about getting involved on campus and making a difference in your community.

CLOSING RECEPTION, LUNCH AND PRIZES
All Preview Day student participants are eligible to win prizes, including scholarships for the Fall 2010 term, Portland State apparel and spirit items. You must be present to win! Take the opportunity during lunch to speak to our student volunteers about their Portland State experience.

Upon registration for Preview Day, you will receive detailed confirmation information via e-mail. For those that have already submitted a registration form will get a reminder confirmation email by Thursday, November 12th

Cost

There is a small registration fee per person.  All fees cover program materials, refreshments, lunch, and a t-shirt for each student who attends. The fee is payable upon check-in by cash or personal check.
