Eviction Research

Eviction is an important issue in housing policy and law, but in Oregon, there has been little research to measure the scope and impact of eviction due to data access challenges. Eviction research at PSU includes building a complete database of eviction court cases and evaluating public policy and legal processes to provide insight on how eviction happens, who gets evicted, and what the consequences of eviction are.

This project tracks and publishes eviction data in the state of Oregon. It also includes a public education and advocacy campaign called Evicted in Oregon to help people better understand the eviction process, eviction data, and policy considerations to inspire change.

This project produces reports that evaluate and analyze Oregon’s eviction laws, policies, and programs, using quantitative and qualitative methods, to inform the public and policymakers in an effort to increase eviction diversion and improve housing stability.
