Staff Spotlight - Keara Gagnet

Keara Gagnet

Keara Gagnet will leave CampusRec just as she entered, with a determined eye ready to make the most of her future endeavors. Driven and hard-working, Keara has made quite the impact during her time as Marketing & Communications Student Coordinator. She has worked under 2 different professional staff and led various Brand Ambassador members all the while getting the job done efficiently and learning important skills. When asked about her favorite part of working at CampusRec, she said: “I have an amazing boss and work with amazing people on the marketing team. The director of Campus Rec is also the best.”

Keara has made many great memories at CampusRec and is grateful for all of her experiences. When asked about the most rewarding aspects of working at CampusRec, she shared: “Seeing people’s faces light up when talking about the Rec Center, seeing them excited to come, and actually seeing them at the Rec.” Keara’s welcoming energy can surely be felt from those who speak with her, it is no wonder she is able to feel the same energy she gives out.

Keara has shown time and again what it means to maintain a professional attitude while being an efficient and caring leader, we can all learn from Keara’s expertise. When asked to share advice for new staff, she offered: “Come in with a positive attitude, an open mind ready to learn, and absorb new knowledge. Don’t be scared to take initiative and offer ideas.”

When Keara isn’t working in the self-titled “Coordinator Cubicle”, she can still be found at the Rec Center lifting weights or attending a Group X class. Outside of the ASRC walls, Keara loves being outside, practicing her video-editing skills, or spending quality time with family and friends, which shows the importance community has in her life. Indeed, when asked about the values of CampusRec she connects with the most, she shared: “Community, because it is important for people to feel like they belong and while working I have become a part of the community.”

We are all sad to see her go, yet excited for what she plans to do next. Her next step after graduation is moving to the coast to be with her family. Taking team-management, project-management, and problem-solving from her position with her, she plans to work in the digital marketing sphere, helping businesses market themselves and eventually starting a business of her own.

What are your plans after graduation?

Work in marketing and eventually start a business, looking at digital marketing. Helping businesses market themselves: social media, running ads, increasing sales.


Why did you decide to attend PSU? And what made you want to work at Campus Rec?

Financial aid program, had a great criminology program but also a good psychology program.


What activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

Keara likes to go to CampusRec to workout. Loves video editing and spending time with friends and family.


What are you passionate about?

Learning, video editing, fashion, having an active lifestyle, and working with people.


What is your favorite part of your job?

Amazing boss and working with amazing people on the marketing team. The Director of Campus Rec is the best.


What has been your most rewarding moment working here at Campus Rec?
