AI CON at The School of Business Sparks Cross-Campus Momentum for Responsible AI Integration

AI CON Event

On May 30, The School of Business hosted AI CON, a campus-wide event dedicated to exploring the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education, research, and professional practice. Designed to spark thoughtful dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration, the event brought together faculty, staff, students, and industry professionals for a full day of conversation and idea-sharing.

The event kicked off with remarks from academic leadership and set the tone for an open, engaging exchange of perspectives. With a mix of panels, workshops, and industry case studies, attendees explored topics such as academic integrity, equity in the classroom, research ethics, and real-world applications of AI across sectors like healthcare and technology.

In addition to formal sessions, AI CON offered informal roundtable discussions over lunch, allowing participants to connect across disciplines and imagine what responsible, forward-thinking AI adoption might look like at PSU and beyond.

One of the key takeaways from the event was the strong interest in continuing the conversation. Several departments have already begun planning follow-up meetings to review policies, refine curriculum, and align on best practices for AI use in teaching and research. The event underscored PSU’s commitment to not just using AI, but leading with purpose and care in how it is integrated across the university.

AI CON affirmed Portland State’s role as a leader in responsible innovation, bringing the campus community together to shape a future where AI supports learning, integrity, and impact.
