Mandatory Employee Training
Portland State University desires to create a campus where our students, faculty and staff interact respectfully. As part of that mission, PSU requires all administrators, faculty, staff, and student employees to complete the "Preventing Prohibited Discrimination and Harassment" learning module whether or not employees completed the former module Creating a Culture of Respect.
This training offers strategies for preventing unlawful discrimination, discriminatory and sexual harassment, and retaliation within the University. It teaches our community what constitutes potential discrimination, or discriminatory and sexual harassment or retaliation and how to respond appropriately when we become aware of such conduct, and, in keeping with PSU’s core values, promotes a climate of mutual respect.
There are two modules: one for supervisors and one for non-supervisors. The supervisor training provides additional information on supervisors’ obligations regarding how to respond to employees reporting discrimination, seeking accommodations and other assistance as well as supervisors’ obligations when they become aware of an employee potentially engaging in discriminatory conduct. Only supervisors who have timesheet or leave approval complete the supervisor training.
Within each module, there are separate sections. We understand this training may take some time for employees to complete and recommend that you set aside a half an hour or so for a few weeks. It is not required that you complete the training in one session. It will save what you have completed, and you can complete it at a later time.
