Honors Commencement 2025

Honors Commencement

We celebrated the Honors Class of 2025 at our Honors Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, June 12 in the Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom.

Who is the Class of 2025?

This graduating class is remarkably diverse: they ranged in age from 20 to 58; 32% of them are Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color; 62% are women. And, remarkably, 54% of our graduates are the first in their families to go to college. The five most popular majors among this cohort are psychology, history, biology, environmental science, and biochemistry, and their average GPA is 3.8.

Honors Commencement Speakers

We were honored to have Sandy Chung, J.D., Executive Director of ACLU of Oregon as our Commencement Speaker.  As the leader of the ACLU of Oregon, she is on the front lines defending and advancing democracy, civil liberties, and civil rights.  She shared her families personal journey from South Korea and encouraged our graduates to join her in this fight for protecting the rights of our classmates, neighbors, and friends.  She also reminded us to breathe and take care of one another.

Our student commencement speakers were Charleen Kepner, graduating with a BA in Child, Youth and Families Studies, and Sage Mendre, graduating with a BA in Communications Studies.
