International Studies seeks to broaden the student's outlook by utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to learning which combines study in languages, history, culture and the social sciences. The program is based on the understanding that the world is increasingly interdependent and that a global perspective on various issues is becoming necessary for a complete understanding of international affairs. Regions of focus include Africa, East Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Areas of thematic concentration include International Development Studies, Community Health, and Business.
This degree affords an excellent foundation for careers in which an understanding of international economic, political, social, and cultural affairs is of importance; it also provides a solid foundation for graduate work in the field.
