Spring people

 

  1. Jola Ajibade, geography faculty, served as a panelist on “Sea Level Rise and Brooklyn’s Jamaica Bay Communities: Examining Models for Transformative Adaptation” at the Brooklyn Waterfront Research Center Annual Conference in New York on May 13.
  2. Jola Ajibade, geography faculty, served as a panelist on “Policy Consultation on the Limits of Adaptation: Planned Relocations and Resettlement,” organized by the Africa Climate Mobility Initiative, International Organization for Migration, the World Bank, and African Union on May 12 .
  3. Cody Evers, environmental science and management, and Andres Holz, geography faculty, appeared on KATU news on May 9 for a story titled, “Heading into Wildfire Season: What Can We Expect in the Pacific Northwest” 
  4. Julia Freybote, business faculty, was named the senior editor of the Journal of Sustainable Real Estate.
  5. Karen Karavanic, computer science faculty, has been appointed to the National Science Foundation as a program director in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering directorate.
  6. Marguerita Lightfoot, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health Associate Dean of Research, was awarded the Oregon Consular Corps 2022 Ambassador Award on May 19 during an event at the Portland Art Museum. 
  7. Thea Prieto, English, won the Eric Hoffer Award in the small press category for her book, “From the Caves.” 
  8. Pronoy Rai, international and global studies faculty, has been selected by the Social Science Research Council and the Henry Luce Foundation to participate in the 2022 Collaborative Research Development Workshop on Asia on social dimensions of climate change. 
  9. Dilafruz Williams, education faculty, was a panelist for a webinar on “Culturally Inclusive Garden-Based Learning” organized by KidsGardening on May 10.
