Dr. Freybote is an Associate Professor of Finance and Real Estate in The School of Business at Portland State University. She also is the Academic Director for the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) and Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Investment and Finance (GCREIF) programs. She holds a Ph.D. and Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) from Georgia State University and a Diplom-Kauffrau from EBS Universität in Germany. Her research focuses on commercial real estate investment & finance as well as ESG and technological innovation in the context of real estate. Her work has been published in Real Estate Economics, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics and the Journal of Real Estate Research. In 2019, she received the William N. Kinnard Scholar Award from the American Real Estate Society (ARES), which recognizes outstanding real estate scholars early in their academic careers. Furthermore, she is the Senior Editor for the Journal of Sustainable Real Estate.

Prior to joining academia, Dr. Freybote gained industry experience in corporate real estate consulting and institutional real estate investment. She primarily teaches graduate real estate finance courses.

In her free time, she enjoys exploring Portland, being outdoors and attending live sport events such as Timbers games and roller derby bouts. She also volunteers on the Budget Finance Committee of the Rose City Rollers.
