Did you know?
In 1965, our underdog College Bowl trivia team was crowned national champions in front of millions of TV viewers. This triumph was a defining moment in Portland State's history. Team member Michael Smith competed while suffering from cystic fibrosis and died soon after graduating. In 1969, this became his namesake and Portland State became a university.
