Jakon Hays, the Senior Strategic Communications Specialist at Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI), is responsible for designing and driving awareness initiatives highlighting NUARI's mission of enabling a resilient society through rapid research, development, and education in cybersecurity, defense technologies, and information warfare. Jakon spent 19 years as a News Researcher and Social Media Editor at Virginia's largest newspaper, The Virginian-Pilot, based in Hampton Roads, VA.
Jakon is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Romania in the late 90s as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). His work at NUARI brings him back to his alma mater, where he first developed his interests in military history, writing, Political Science, International Studies, and the Russian language. Jakon lives in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, where he enjoys running and hiking the trails of nearby mountains with his family.
