Joshua Bass, sociology faculty, received the PSU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences John Eliot Allen Outstanding Teaching Award.

Talya Bauer, business faculty, was interviewed for and quoted in the article, “The Do’s and Don’ts of Onboarding Buddies,” published in the Wall Street Journal on May 17.

Talya Bauer, business faculty, was a panelist in the session “Teaching Tips From Distinguished Teaching Contributions Award Winners” at Early Career Faculty Consortium, hosted by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Annual Conference in Seattle from April 28 to May 1.

Talya Bauer, business faculty, joined the editorial board of Research in Human Resource Management, an annual series designed to advance theory, research, and practice in Human Resource Management and the related fields of Organizational Behavior, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Research Methods.

Dustin Bessette, business faculty, was accepted into the Americas Conference on Information Systems 2022 junior faculty consortium to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota in August.

Cassio de Oliveira, World Languages and Literatures, published an article titled “Narrating and Translating Siblinghood in Tolstoy’s ‘Fransuaza’” in Tolstoy Studies Journal.

Todd Ferry, architecture, and Marisa Zapata, urban studies and planning faculty, earned a 2022 Notable Document award from the National Association of Legislators for the publication of “Village Research & How-to Guide.”

Julia Goodman, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health faculty, received a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research in Mexico, examining accessibility of workplace maternity rights for women employed in the informal sector, collaboration with EQUIDE at Universidad Iberoamericana.

Courtney Hermann, film faculty, spoke to KGW about Outliers and Outlaws, a community-based digital humanities project that preserves and shares the unique history of the lesbian community in Eugene.

Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty, was a panelist for Kwibuka 28, an event commemorating the 28th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide against the Tutsi, at the at the Oregon Historical Society on June 12.

Shirley A. Jackson, sociology faculty, was a panelist for “Co-Conspirators of Change: Conversations with Women of Color Leaders in Higher Education” at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity conference in Portland on June 2.

John MacArthur, Sustainable Transportation Program Manager, appeared in a YouTube video by Bike Shop Girl on May 28 about incentivizing and encouraging electric bicycle use.

John MacArthur, Sustainable Transportation Program Manager, was quoted in a Bloomberg article called “What if Electric Bikes Were as Cheap as Conventional Bikes?”

Carlos Mena, business faculty, has been appointed as an Associate Editor for Journal of Purchasing & Supply Management.

Chris Monsere, civil and environmental engineering and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the Maseeh College of Engineering & Political Science, earned PSU’s Branford Price Millar Award for Faculty Excellence.

Byeongdon (“Don”) Oh, sociology postdoctoral fellow, has accepted a two-year postdoctoral position at the University of California, Berkeley. Funded by the National Science Foundation, he will work to improve undergraduate data science education.

Thea Prieto, English, wrote a book, “From the Caves,” which won the 2021 INDIES Book of the Year Award in literary fiction.

Tracy Prince, curriculum & instruction, was named a UW Whiteley Scholar and is researching at the Whiteley Center this summer. She has also been named a nonfiction juror for Millay Arts writers’ residencies and recently returned from a writer’s residency at Millay, the oldest arts residency program in the U.S.

Ken Ruoff, Director of the Center for Japanese Studies, has been reappointed for another three years as a “Hokkaido University Ambassador.” 

Dara Shifrer, sociology faculty, was elected as chair-elect of the Disability in Society Section of the American Sociological Association.

Marvin Washington, business faculty, gave a radio interview for 980 CKNW in Vancouver, Canada on June 25 to talk about “Sportwashing” and the LIV golf tournament.

Lindsey Wilkinson, sociology faculty, was elected Faculty Senate Presiding Officer Elect for 2022-2023.
