Washington County Commercial Technical Assistance Program (WCTAP) Dates: 3/1/03-6/1/06 Source: Washington County CES began the Washington County Technical Assistance Program in March 2003. This program offers free consultation services to Washington County area businesses to improve recycling efforts, waste reduction strategies, and buy-recycled activities. The areas serviced include Banks, Cornelius, Durham, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, King City, North Plains, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville, and unincorporated Washinton County. Several business sectors are being targeted through this effort, including: schools and universities, religious organizations, nurseries, and large businesses that employ 250 or more workers. Each business receives customized on-site assistance to determine opportunities for improvement in their recycling, waste prevention, and buy-recycled operations.
Commercial Recycling Project Dates: 9/16/99-5/30/07 Source: City of Portland For six consecutive years CES provided comprehensive recycling assistance to Portland area businesses through the Commercial Recycling Project. Outreach and assistance services were provided to all businesses in the City of Portland with particular emphasis on multifamily recycling programs, Waterfront Park and other area event recycling, and commercial tenant improvement projects. CES played a critical role in the roll-out of the City's new Food Waste Diversion ordinance.
Gresham Targeted Multi-family Recycling Outreach Project Phase II Dates: 9/1/02-6/30/03 Source: Metro Regional Government, City of Gresham This technical service project focused on under-performing multi-family residential sites in the City of Gresham. 48 sites identified as either having no or limited recycling systems received comprehensive services to set up or improve recycling systems. Phase II included a program evaluation component.
Troutdale Commercial Technical Assistance Project Dates: 7/1/02-12/31/02 Source: Metro, City of Troutdale CES provided direct technical assistance to Troutdale area businesses in the areas of recycling, waste prevention, buy recycled and other organizational sustainability practices. City of Troutdale offices and other facilities received services under this project.
Single Family Weight Study Dates: 7/1/02-6/30/04 Source: City of Portland This period markeed the 10th year of a longitudinal study of the City of Portlands' residential curbside garbage set out weights. CES field staff collected over 20,000 household garbage set out weights during eight sampling periods over the two year study. This data is used in the City's residential rate-making process.
Port of Portland Technical Assistance Project (PTAP) Dates: 9/1/02-8/30/03 Source: Port of Portland CES conducted a comprehensive baseline assessment of the Port's aviation, marine, maintenance, and administrative facilities to identify opportunities for the Port to increase performance in the areas of recycling, waste prevention, buy recycled, and other environmental sustainability practices. Following the assessment, CES implemented recommendations in collaboration with the Port.
International Airport Organics Diversion Pilot Project Dates: 8/1/02-7/31/03 Source: Port of Portland CES implemented a pre-consumer food waste diversion pilot project at the Portland International Airport targeting all vegetative food waste, baked goods, and compostable papers. CES and Port are collaborating on this project along with the Airport's 40+ food and coffee vendors to divert an estimated 15% of the Airports waste stream to compost production. This project is funded through a grant from Metro Regional Government.
