Michael Kilman


Michael Kilman is an Applied Anthropologist and Digital Media Specialist. He received an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Religious Studies from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Michael conducted his graduate work at Portland State University and earned a M.S. in Applied Anthropology. In the last five years Michael has conducted ethnographic research in Nevada, Oregon, Colorado and Nueve Leon, Mexico. Most recently, Michael worked with a social justice theater organization based in Denver, CO known as “The Romero Theater Troupe” (www.romerotroupe.org). During that time he conducted ethnographic research (qualitative and quantitative methods), created and managed the troupe’s social media and produced a full length documentary film highlighting the cultural impact of the Romero Theater Troupe on the Denver community. Alongside the film Michael published his research results in an article titled “Community Media as a Forum for Resistance: The Case of the Romero Theater Troupe.
