Douglas C. Wilson (Ph.D., University of Arizona, 1991) serves as archaeologist in the National Park Service. Since 2001, he has served as adjunct associate professor, teaching classes and working with students, volunteers, and stakeholders to conduct historical archaeology in the Pacific Northwest, including the exploration of western colonialism, and public and community archaeology. Dr. Wilson brings professional experience in National Park Service projects and programs including the identification, documentation and evaluation of properties associated with history and cultural heritage. He teaches classes in historical archaeology, cultural resources managment, field techniques in archaeology, the archaeology of colonialism, and archaeological theory. He directs the public archaeology program for the Vancouver National Historic Reserve, including Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. Among his awards are the 2011 John L. Cotter Award for Excellence in National Park Service Archeology and the 2016 Society for Historical Archaeology’s Diversity Field School Competition Award.
