Program Mission

The Sexual and Relationship Violence Response Program at the WRC addresses sexual violence at PSU by providing students connections to resources, information, and trauma-informed support. We advocate for best practices in campus coordinated response efforts at all levels of the institution.

Confidential Advocacy Services

The WRC serves students of all genders. We are available to answer questions, work with student survivors, and advocate on behalf of their self-identified needs, decisions, wishes, questions, and concerns. This includes:

  • Providing intervention, support, information, and referrals.
  • Serving as a liaison between the student and campus departments such as Residence Life, Campus Public Safety, Student Health and Counseling, Student Legal Services, and the Office of Student Affairs.
  • Serving as a liaison and advocate with University faculty and staff.
  • Assisting in linking the student survivor to off-campus community services when needed.
  • Assisting the student survivor with accessing and understanding University policy, including Student Conduct Code.

Program Activities

The WRC's Sexual and Relationship Violence Response Program focuses on three areas of activities:

  • Students: Providing direct, individual student services.
  • Campus Community: 1) Chairing the PSU Interpersonal Violence Task Force and 2) Working with faculty and staff to address specific situations; offer classroom presentations and trainings; partner in offering Capstone classes focused on sexual assault awareness.
  • Portland Community: Active membership in off-campus collaborative groups including the Multnomah County Sexual Assault Response Team, Multnomah County Family Violence Coordinating Council, and Attorney General Sexual Assault Task Force.

Phone Donations

The WRC accepts donations of used and old cell phones. The phones are donated to Call to Safety. All cell phone donations are tax deductible. If you would like an acknowledgment of your donation for tax purposes, please include a piece of paper with your name and contact information. It may take as long as two to three months to receive acknowledgment of your donation as this is provided by PWCL and the phones donated at the WRC are only picked up every couple months.
