World Languages and Literature Master's Degree Overview

Become proficient in two foreign languages and gain new insights into the people, traditions, and cultures of the communities and countries where those languages are spoken with PSU's master's degree in World Literature and Language.

The master's in World Literature and Language is a graduate degree with a concentration in a primary language, a secondary language, and linguistics. The primary language may be French, German, or Spanish, and the second language may be French, German, Japanese, Russian, or Spanish.

You'll graduate with effective communication and research skills, knowledge of major theoretical approaches to literature and linguistics, and familiarity with organizations for language professionals that can be beneficial as you pursue doctoral degrees, language teaching, or other careers.

World Languages and Literature Master's Degree: Why PSU?

PSU's master's degree in World Literature and Language is a unique degree that few other universities offer. In our program, you'll be able to focus on two languages in-depth with the benefit of our small class sizes, expert faculty, and active language communities on campus and in the Portland area.

As part of the program, you'll write two research papers, one dealing with the primary language and the other with the secondary language.
