WOKE Week: Building A Culture of Care: Navigating Mental Health as a Person of Color

WOKE Week welcomes Amanda Ramirez, PhD., licensed psychologist at PSU’'s Student Health and Counseling Services. This workshop will focus on navigating mental health supports as a student of color at PSU. The workshop will explore cultural beliefs regarding mental health, areas of cultural strength and resilience, barriers to accessing culturally sensitive care, as well as strategies for building a culture of care in the midst of on-going stressors.

Location: Karl Miller Center, Room 380

About Amanda Ramirez

Amanda Ramirez

Amanda Ramirez, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist at Portland State University's Student Health and Counseling Services. Amanda is also a Diversity and Inclusion Specialist and the Counseling Services Outreach Coordinator and  Diversity and Inclusion specialist. Amanda received her PhD at the University of Rhode Island, and completed her postdoctoral training at the Utah Center for Evidence Based Treatment. Amanda specializes in acceptance commitment therapy, and provides DBT-informed therapy within a culturally sensitive and systems-based lens.
