New Summer Class

TITLE: The Art of Story: Beyond Marginalization to Storytelling in Collaborative Community Development and Planning
USP 410 / 510
(CRN- 83115 / 83116)
TIME: Tuesdays, 1200-1400, June 21 thru August 9
DESCRIPTION: This course takes an in depth-look at building collaborative communities thru listening to and telling the stories of all stakeholders. Specific cases will demonstrate how competing agendas take a back seat in the storytelling process, allowing for a collaborative vision to emerge out of dialogical engagement between diverse others. Storytelling processes require the full disclosure of the personal stories that all too often remain hidden behind the rationalisms of power actors. The encouraging turn to narrative in the social sciences will serve as the theoretical backdrop for the course.
