David Jay, Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty, has been selected to serve on the U.S.  Department of Commerce's Hydrographic Services Review Panel, which was established to advise the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) about hydrographic survey priorities, technologies relating to their operations, research and development, and dissemination of data. During his four years on the panel, he hopes to encourage NOAA to recover historic tide data needed for studies of climate, sea level rise, and long-term changes in tides and estuarine ecosystems; and improve tide and tidal current predictions for navigational safety, disaster preparedness, and estimation of coastal inundation.
