How do I manage and update the media folders on my Enterprise site?

About Media Folders

You have probably noticed an option to assign files to a media folder when you upload your files to your site’s library. If your site still uses the default folders, then your folder options are:

  • Media Root
  • brand_images
  • editorial
  • lifestyle
  • portland-urban
  • Textural

Though these folders are not used extensively throughout the CMS, you can use them to filter images from the files library when embedding them. However, using the default labels can be cumbersome, so if you would like to modify the folder names, you are welcome to do so using the instructions below.

Steps to Edit Folders

  1. Login to your Enterprise site.
  2. From the Dashboard page, click on “Manage Taxonomy”: pdx.edu/SITE/admin/structure/taxonomy (replace SITE with your site’s URI).
  3. Click on “List Terms” to the right of the “Media Folders” taxonomy type.
    • Important: Do not change the other taxonomy types, as this can affect your site functionality.
  4. Follow steps 5, 6, 7, or 8 depending on your needs.
  5. Rename existing folders:
    • Click the “edit” link to the right of the folder you want to rename.
    • On the new page, change the text in the NAME field to your desired folder title. Do not change anything else on this page.
    • Click the “Save” button.
  6. Delete existing folders:
    • Click the “edit” link to the right of the folder you want to rename.
    • On the new page, click the “Delete” button.
  7. Add new folders:

    • Hover your mouse over the crosshairs to the left of the folder you want to move.
    • Click and drag the folder to where you want it to be.
    • Repeat these steps for any other folders you wish to move.
    • Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
