FAQs

How do I embed a Youtube or Vimeo video into my Enterprise site's page?

Embedding a YouTube or Vimeo video in an enterprise page consists of two basic steps:

  1. Add the video to your enterprise site's Library.
  2. Embed the video in a page.

Add the Video to Your Enterprise Site's Library

  1. Open a browser window or tab.

  2. Navigate to PSU's YouTube channelPSU's Vimeo channel or your department's YouTube or Vimeo channel.

  3. Find the video you want to use. Remember: you can only upload videos that you have permission to use. Self-created works or videos owned by PSU are always allowed to be used.

  4. Get the URL:

    • Vimeo: Click on the paper airplane in the upper right corner of the video. If you hover over it, the word “Share” will appear.
    • YouTube: Click on the Share button beneath the video. Hint: it looks like an arrow.
  5. Copy the URL. Vimeo URLs will start with https://vimeo.com/channels/; YouTube URLs will start with with https://youtu.be/

  6. Go to your enterprise site and login.

  7. Click on Add File in the Administrative Menu.

  8. Click on the tab that says Web in the top right corner.

  9. In the text box labeled File URL or media resource, paste the URL for the file you wish to upload (the URL you just copied).

  10. If uploading a Vimeo video: delete the “channels/portlandstate/” part of the URL (or the “channels/yourchannel”, if using a different channel) that you just pasted. Example: https://vimeo.com/channels/portlandstate/30461166 would change to https://vimeo.com/30461166

  11. Click Next.

  12. Once the file is uploaded, you will see a screen that allows you to modify the file name and assign it to a folder. You do not have to make changes, but if the file name is unwieldy or you plan on uploading a multitude of files, then customization is highly recommended.

  13. Click Save and move on to the instructions for embedding the video.
