Erin joined Portland State in April 2011. Originally from Boise, ID, Erin considers herself a Pacific Northwesterner at heart. Her first experience working in college admissions was as a student tour guide. After completing an interdisciplinary degree in public art education and cultural studies, she realized that working directly with students pursuing higher education was more fulfilling than working behind the scenes at a museum. She continued as a counselor at WWU for three years before moving to the Portland area to do the same fulfilling work at PSU. Erin enjoys her job at Portland State because of the diverse population of students interested in making the city their new home. As she puts it, "Portland is a unique place and it attracts unique people. Hearing their stories, helping them take their next steps to learn, and seeing them succeed here is incredibly gratifying." She also strongly believes in the mission of service to one's community that makes PSU stand out among its regional and urban peers. She earned her Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from PSU in 2018. When not in her office, Erin enjoys eating at nearby food carts, having fun with her pup, and being creative.
