Trainings

ITG makes available its educational programs and consulting services to individual tribes; groups of tribes; local, state, and federal governments; and private and nonprofit entities. 

The Institute serves as a convening lead and facilitator to align client needs with programs, Portland State University faculty, and off-campus subject area experts and institutions as appropriate. Program offerings range from off-the-shelf courses and curriculums to specifically tailored workshops and courses.

  • Tribal Governance Trainings—Designed by and for elected tribal leaders
  • Government Agency Trainings—Designed for county, state and federal agencies
  • Tribal Government Strategic Planning - Design and facilitate strategic planning in order to establish tribal priorities and effectively implement those priorities
  • Tribal Government Organizational Development and Training- Assessing organizational needs, restoration, and operational improvements
  • Tribal Council and Management Team Building- Design and facilitate team building workshops, retreats, and building effective and positive working relationships
  • Tribal Budgeting- Assess tribal budgets for operational effectiveness, cost-savings and improving tribal budget process to achieve tribal priorities
  • Professional Certificate in Tribal Relations - An 11-month program designed for local, state, and federal government agencies, non-profit and for-profit organizations, and trade associations that work regularly with tribal nations that emphasizes understanding of tribal cultures, histories, and policy perspectives.
