CERA: A Conversation about Engaged Research
Thursday, January 16, 2020 - 12:00pm to Thursday, January 16, 2020 - 1:00pm

The Community Engagement Research Academy (CERA) welcomes PSU's Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative (HRAC) and the Executive Director of Street Roots to help us explore two key questions around community engagement at PSU:

How can universities best support community partners in conducting research?

How do we balance different priorities, timelines, and skillsets?

Portland is experiencing a complex homelessness crisis caused by rising cost of living, reduced funding for housing and health services, and historical inequities. PSU's Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative addresses the challenges of homelessness in Portland and beyond through solutions-oriented research and evidence-based science focused on the conditions that lead to and perpetuate homelessness. This session will provide a general overview of our work with community partners, including researching rates of housing and food insecurity among PSU students and employees and evaluating tiny home villages for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. We will focus most of our discussion on our involvement in the Portland Street Response, a collaborative effort between Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty’s office, Street Roots, and many other partners.

This meeting will be held over what is typically a lunch hour. We invite you to bring your lunch!
