Elaine Lees

Instructor. Elaine Lees, MBA, SPHR, is a talent-management strategist who helps companies select, develop and retain key employees with custom fit solutions. She is the Principal for Elaine Lees Consulting. In her career as VP, HR, and company officer, Ms. Lees has been exposed to and managed through leading-edge issues in talent management such as retention, scaling for growth, outsourcing, mergers and acquisitions, rewards, and management development. Her organizations have won Best Company in Oregon and have been featured in magazines such as FAST Company and INC. Certified by Lominger, Hogan Assessments, Human Capital Institute among others, she also has a lifetime Senior Professional in Human Resources designation.

Ryan Gibson

Instructor. Ryan is an Oregon employment lawyer with 10 years of experience. He focuses his practice exclusively on advising and training employers on compliance with all manner of employment laws, including in the areas of discrimination and harassment, family leave, wage and hour, disability accommodation, and employment contracts, among others. He also has extensive experience representing employers in litigation in state and federal courts, and before administrative agencies like the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI). Ryan also worked in the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office prosecuting misdemeanor cases. He has been listed as an Oregon Super Lawyer since 2014, an award reserved for the top 5-10% of lawyers in a practice area.

Kyle Abraham

Instructor. Kyle Abraham, PHR, SHRM-CP represents employers in both traditional labor and employment law matters. He works with businesses of all sizes, government entities, and not-for-profit organizations. In his employment law practice, Kyle works closely with employers to develop effective workplace policies, and he provides proactive advice and counsel. Additionally, Kyle is a trained, certified and experienced workplace investigator, and he regularly conducts investigations into allegations of employee misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or other sensitive issues. Kyle is an experienced litigator who has successfully represented clients before U.S. circuit and district courts, Oregon and Washington state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries, and other state and federal agencies. Kyle leverages his experience to help employers anticipate and resolve problems at the earliest possible stage and in a cost-effective manner, with the confidence and capability to defend employers if the matter escalates to litigation.

Instructor. Tiffany Salzman, VP of Client Success at Mambo Media, takes an omnichannel approach to marketing strategy and business consulting. She is an award winning strategist that guides her team and clients through the ever changing digital landscape to create multifaceted programs that improve ROI and engender brand loyalty. Tiffany has been creating marketing programs and leading marketing teams for over 12 years, enabling her to not only find creative solutions but also build teams and guide clients ensuring their ability to manage and continuously improve their marketing programs. Mike Arnesen

Instructor. Mike Arnesen is the founder and CEO of UpBuild, a Portland-based technical marketing firm specializing in search engine optimization (SEO), analytics, and CRO. Mike has spent over a decade in SEO and web analytics, with experiences ranging from working in-house for Fortune 500 companies to getting his hands dirty doing web dev in someone’s basement. After seeing Portland’s own SwellPath through a successful acquisition as the Director of Analytics and Optimization, Mike founded UpBuild to channel his love of all things digital optimization into a new type of highly idealistic and innovative marketing agency. Mike is also a nationally recognized conference speaker, blogger, startup culture advocate, and has served as a board member at SEMpdx.

Darin Matthews

Instructor. Darin Matthews has nearly 25 years of contracting experience in both the public and private sectors. He is currently the director of procurement for the University of California, Santa Cruz. Darin has a Bachelor’s degree in Business and a Masters in Acquisition Management. He speaks on contracting and procurement issues around the world and has published several articles and books on supply chain management. He has served as business faculty for PSU and Florida Atlantic University, and has taught construction contracting for the Institute for Public Procurement for over 10 years.

Marty Ochs

Instructor. Marty Ochs has come to Portland State University via a meandering path through multiple marketing management roles with large field agencies and small breweries that became some of the fastest growing breweries in the US. He is focused on details in the quality of work that a good sales department structure and function will provide when planned out appropriately. It is also with a holistic view that Marty approaches the creation of a growth strategy within the business ecosystem we are a part of.

He has significant experience connecting practical decisions in areas of strategy, operations, and marketing to create financial results and has worked in diverse industries, including manufacturing and banking. He leverages his real-world experience to teach a variety of topics including international finance, asset valuation, and case studies in finance to graduates, undergraduates, and working professionals.

Anne Ely Kenlon

Instructor. Anne Ely Kenlon is a senior-level writer and communications manager with 35 years of experience across a broad variety of business disciplines. As a seasoned strategist and counsel to senior leaders at three Fortune 500 companies, she has written executive speeches, video scripts, opinion columns, and media pitches. Her main focus has been on employee communications and translating complex technical and financial information into understandable terms. She recently relocated to Portland from Corning, N.Y., where she managed the employee global news program for Corning Incorporated and maintained a reader satisfaction rate of more than 95%. She holds bachelor's degrees in English and journalism from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa and a master's degree in Management and Administrative Science from the University of Texas - Dallas.
