Christian Aniciete

Degree: Bachelor's, Marketing and Advertising Management

What's next: Looking for a job

The next time you eat a pancake at Portland State University's midnight breakfast, attend a Viking pre-game mixer, or watch a faculty vs. staff basketball game, thank Christian Aniciete.

Aniciete has been involved in everything PSU since he stepped on campus as a freshman.

He's been a leader in student government, worked as events coordinator for the Student Activities & Leadership Programs, and helped start the Programming Board to oversee student activities. And he still made time for Kaibigan, the Filipino American Student Association.

Aniciete says he's active on campus because he feels grateful to attend college. He was 10 when his family immigrated to Hillsboro from the Philippines, where he says he wouldn’t have had as many educational opportunities.

As a student leader, he helped make campus life more vibrant by drawing thousands of students together for new events that he hopes will become traditions long after he graduates in June.

"This is one of the ways I can give back to the community that gave me a lot," he says.
