Advanced Architectural Graphics and Media (ARCH 423/523) Spring 2019
Advanced Architectural Graphics and Media (ARCH 423/523) Spring 2019

Advanced Graphics and Media Graphics asks students to explore the intersection of material and digital techniques and technologies. We will spend considerable time on questions of translation and how one set of discoveries might inform the next as you move between projective states of architectural speculation.
Early in your architectural education, you learn that the ability to represent architectural ideas, to communicate three-dimensional phenomena in two-dimensional formats, is a fundamental part of how architects operate. Drawing can be a form of observation and thought and can provide an opportunity to strengthen connections between mind, hand, and eye. With architectural representation in, what Michael Meredith suggests is, a ‘post-medium-specific’ moment, there is an opportunity to explore new media, technologies, and genres to forge new neural pathways beyond drawing that will hopefully open up previously inconceivable ‘architectures.’
