Andrew Martin, Geography faculty, presented “Mesoscale Modification of Precipitation during Landfalling Atmospheric Rivers by Frontal Cyclogenesis” about research on rare weather events and how they modify orographic precipitation, leading to difficult-to-predict flooding, in a session titled “Analysis and Forecasting of Mesoscale Weather Phenomena” at the Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society in Boston, Massachusetts. The study was performed in collaboration with Scripps Institution of Oceanography and funded by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
